The best part is: it is as <strike>dirt cheap</strike> affordable as the one in Makati AND closer to home. They have the juiciest and the most bloody meat that draws you to the pan because of the aroma. But the best side dish is the grilled kimchi. Spicy, sweet and simple. It tops my “cheap eat” list and guess what, I’ve eaten there thrice this week.

There are dishes for sharing and this is NOT one of those...

There are dishes for sharing and this is NOT one of those dishes. I specifically ordered my own plate of this killer goodness. The plating was very straight forward when it was laid in front of me but the simplicity of the aesthetics did not understate the taste. I didn’t bother to grab my knife but used my ever reliable spoon and fork instead. I sliced a big chunk, combined it with a little bagoong (shrimp paste) rice and drenched it with the kare-kare sauce. I finished the whole platter in less than five minutes.

How can you not return to the place that allows you to reminisce the time you had Ilocos bagnet and pair it with one of your all-time favorite Filipino dishes Kare-kare?

This is the BEST cheesecake I have ever tasted in the last three...

This is the BEST cheesecake I have ever tasted in the last three decades I’ve been on earth.

Don’t let the photo deceive you. It is NOT that sweet. Very creamy — oh yes — and a spoonful of it lingers inside your mouth and disappears just like that. And even if you like desserts, you cannot afford to be selfish because it is THAT good. You want to share it with everybody who has a sweet tooth.

Sadly, I’ve only had two of it in my life. Since not too long ago, the chef decided to close his restaurant.

The demise of the best cheesecake in Manila always breaks my heart. Here’s to hoping the French chef reopens his new restaurant soon.

I can never relate to kids who would jump with glee when they...

I can never relate to kids who would jump with glee when they see Jello. And that’s how my aversion to anything custard began.

During my first trip to Macau, my friend M urged me to try the Portuguese egg tart with such gusto that I had to go and try it.

I tried a freshly baked piece. Loved the smell! When I bit into it, the crust was crispy and flaky combined with the warm pastillas-esque sweetness that lingers.

Did I change my mind about custard? Let’s just say I ate three pieces in one sitting.

Sometimes, I surprise myself with how daring my palate has...

Sometimes, I surprise myself with how daring my palate has become. Not too long ago, I found myself embracing Korean dishes including the spicy kimchi.

Two weeks back, I tried my very first Kimchi roll (stuffed with Japanese rice inside) and I haven’t looked back. Imagine a strong kick ending with a slightly sweet after taste in your mouth.

There are days I have no rice cravings. (Why, hello Pinocchio!)

Let me rephrase that: during days I want something light but filling, I know I can always count on hummus and just recently, my favorite falafel!

See? I can bid being a carnivore goodbye with a million falafels.

I immediately forgot everything else I ate after trying barley...

I immediately forgot everything else I ate after trying barley risotto with the plum coleslaw on the side. *I saw stars*

Oh, the meat was so tender that I relied on my fork to do all the work!

It’s been days and I’m still craving for this.
